Nice job, America

Last night I took some cold medicine and watched the election results in bed. There was a catch in my throat at 11pm, when they said Barack Obama would be our next president.

I watched John McCain’s concession speech, and it felt like I was seeing someone I hadn’t seen in a long time. McCain seemed comfortable in his own skin. Then I let the cold medicine take over and told Rockford to wake me for the Obama speech. He did, and I watched it, and I was proud and hopeful for the country and especially for my children. And then I went to sleep again.

I still feel hopeful this morning. I feel like we got it right this time.

Menu deja vu

Menu Plan Monday logoAfter four days of stomach viruses last week, it looks like we might be getting hit with colds this week. And Pete’s doing some serious, cranky-inducing teething. Oh boy!

Because we were all sick last week, we didn’t eat many of the meals we’d planned. So they’re making their appearances this week. I hope.

Monday: Pizza

Tuesday: Moe’s
It’s my birthday! Moe’s sent me a coupon for a free burrito and it’s free-kids-meal night. Thanks, Moe!

Wednesday: Sesame chicken with soba noodles

Thursday: Chimichangas

Friday: Pizza
It’s Pete’s first birthday! But his party isn’t until Saturday. We’ll probably still let him eat dinner, though.
