Perry Mason vs. the chicken sandwich

Remember how much my dad likes ribs? My brother is the same way with chicken sandwiches. Well, that may not be true. But it sounds good. And he did call me the other day to say, “Today’s the day!” To which I said, “What day?” And he said, “Chick-fil-A spicy chicken sandwich day!”

Obviously, I wanted him to check in with me once he’d tried one. Here’s what he had to say:

spicy chicken sandwichAs far as chicken sandwiches go, I would give Chick-fil-A’s spicy chicken sandwich a solid 7 out of 10. The original sandwich gets an 8 out of 10, because it’s the best fast food chicken sandwich on earth.

(My sister-in-law, in the background: Why isn’t it a 10?

My brother, who I’m positive has put a serious amount of thought into this: There is no 10. There has to be room for growth.)

So I give it a 7. It’s spicy, and if you’re in the mood for a chicken sandwich it’s pretty rockin’. The best part about it is if you get a deluxe, you get a choice of cheeses: Pepper jack, provolone, [something else] and I don’t remember the fourth. Carrie says it was American. I went with the pepper jack, and it was pretty good. Next time I’d get the provolone, because I think it needs something to tone it down a little. It’s like Wendy’s spicy chicken was a few years ago; almost too spicy. Wendy’s toned their’s down, though, and I think Wendy’s spicy chicken sandwich is still the best spicy chicken sandwich, but Chick-fil-A’s regular sandwich is still the best overall.
