I used to be pretty good at fake Jeopardy.

I love game shows. I used to love the wacky drama of “Let’s Make a Deal,” and I would watch “Jeopardy” with a calculator in hand to see how I’d fare if I were on the show. Poppy seems to have inherited my love of the game show. She latched on to “Wheel of Fortune” early on — she called it “the clapping show” — and she’s on a first-name basis with Trebek.

I’ve never been a contestant on a game show, and I’ve never really wanted to be. I’d feel really self-conscious, which would make me blow any chance at winning the big bucks. Or the Brand New Car, or whatever. I’d like to see Rockford on “Don’t Forget the Lyrics.” I think he’d do really well. As long as he didn’t make me one of his “backup singers.”

Why am I telling you this? For a contest. ParentBloggers.com is teaming up with Oliebollen.com to give some stuff away. And when I say “stuff,” I mean whatever five items the winner wants. That’s my kind of prize. For those of who don’t win, there’s another treat: Every day from Friday, Nov. 28, through Monday, Dec. 1, Oliebollen.com will be giving away five free items. But there’s a catch: They’re hidden. It’ll be like a scavenger hunt!

  1. I love that Piper is on a first name basis with Alex on “The Clapping Show.”

My niece was once highlighted on a news segment about giving blood. She was almost 3, and spent the entire time using medical supplies to ‘draw blood’ from her baby doll. For almost an entire year after that, she referred to the videotape as “The Goellner Movie.”

(The doctors/nurses teach the little ones how to do it to their baby dolls so they aren’t so scared of it, and Emily had to get two to three vials drawn multiple times a day at the time, and received multiple blood transfusions. Emily was hilarious – she would ‘draw blood’ from her baby doll in the correct order, with the correct supplies, multiple times a day.)
