Everyone's adjusting

When we first started to mention to Poppy that she was going to have a brother, her typical response was, “No” or “Not a baby brother.” So I’ve been a bit worried about how she would react to Pete’s arrival.

I’m happy to report that my worries were for naught. Poppy has received Pete (and his toys and super-soft blankies) most gently graciously. She gave him a few courtesy pats yesterday when we first brought him home. Later, she shared some of her farm books with him and told him good night before she went to bed. This morning, when she heard him waking up, she even asked to see him!

Our first night home was only a little difficult. Pete loves the nightlife; Mommy does not. He’s been wide awake and ravenous for the last two nights from about midnight until sometime after 4am. Both nights, Rockford has whisked him away around 2:30 so I can get some sleep. While that’s greatly appreciated, I think I’m going to try to adjust my schedule a bit so I can cover more of his sleepless hours. That being the case, it’s time for my to try to take a nap. I’ll try to be more coherent next time.
