The weekend went by too quickly

Rockford and I did something really unusual this weekend. We went away, just the two of us. No kids. I missed them pretty much every minute, but it was really nice just the same.

I was going to write a big, in-depth post about it. But I’m tired. So here, in brief, is what we did:

  • Had lunch with Rockford’s former co-workers.
  • Had dinner and fun with our friends’.
  • Went to a concert.
  • Helped my dad and his girlfriend move stuff into their temporary lodging.
  • Played a ton of Rock Band with my brother and his fiancee.
  • Met a woman who used to work at Shakespeare’s Pizza.
  • Didn’t check my email.
  • Had fun. Relaxed.
  • 30 things I love about Rockford

    1. His unwavering loyalty to his friends and family.
    2. His appreciation for the underdog.
    3. He knows my limits, and he always steps in and makes me take a break when I need it.
    4. He’s so very tall. And he usually doesn’t mind getting things down from the high shelves for me.
    5. He has a great voice, and he doesn’t mind when I sing along. Although sometimes when I try to talk to him during one of his favorite singalong songs in the car, he shoots me a dirty look.

    Judah update

    From Judah’s aunt:

I spoke to my mom today and she had encouraging news. She had walked into his room and saw that his eyes were wide open. She said “Hi, it’s Grandma!” and he smiled at her. She thought that maybe she imagined it, but [Judah’s father] saw it too. She was so excited. He had another MRI and it showed that he doesn’t have as much swelling in his brain.
