Our son

Stinky Pete was born at 8:27 this morning to the tune of “Come Sail Away” by Styx (via the nurse’s iPod, on ’70s shuffle. I consider it a cosmic joke.). He weighs 8 pounds, 6 ounces and is 19.5 inches long.

Poppy stopped by earlier this evening to meet him. She gave him a few gentle pats and then explored the hospital room. She only pushed the nurses’ call button twice.

We’re both doing really well. He’s a champion eater, and when he’s not eating he’s a very quiet and sleepy little fella. He seems to be moving from his sleepy stage to his hungry stage right now; I’ll share more later!

  9. Congratulations! I gotta say I got a little teary-eyed. And now I’ve got Elton John lyrics swimming through my head (for Poppy):

And all you ever learned from them
    Until you grew much older
Did not compare with when they said
This is your brand new brother

  10. Congrats to you all. Pete is a cutie. Hope I will be able to see him when you visit MI. Love to you all.

  11. wow, mother and baby are BEAUTIFUL. congratulations, you guys! you make a gorgeous family… 😀

  12. Congratulations on Pete’s safe arrival. I hope you are all doing well and Poppy is settling into her new role as ‘big sis’.

  13. Chris, the Styx was courtesy of the Nurse’s iPod–I sadly cannot take credit for the tunes. I requested Steely Dan, which the nurse had in a 70’s mix. And, well, alphabetically Styx is very near Steely Dan. I think you can see the progression. Anyway, what a perfect anthem for our son’s arrival. To transition from Rikki Don’t Lose That Number to Come Sail Away was really quite perfect (given my musical leanings). Nichole was just happy it wasn’t Guitar Man…

  14. Congratulations to you both. He’s a handsome laddie. What were y’all doing with Styx on your labor playlist?

  15. why’s she gotta be hating on guitar man? 🙁
maybe she should try the cake cover…it’s happy times. 😀
