Craft ideas for kiddos

Works for Me Wednesday

The most structured part of our day is from 10am to 12:30pm (or so). We watch “Sesame Street,” then we have art time. After we clean up from that, we have a bit to eat.

Unless the cable is out or we’re out of peanut butter, “Sesame Street” and lunch are no-brainers for me. Art time requires more effort. Some days we just color or play with Play-Doh, but I’m always on the lookout for Art Projects. So when I found a copy of “The Magical Years” for 50 cents at a used bookstore, I grabbed it up and brought it home. (After paying for it, of course.)

Sad, sad paper doll chainWe tried our first project from the book today. A chain of paper dolls. Now, I’d never made a chain of paper dolls before. And I still haven’t. Somehow, the chain eludes me. (I can’t figure out snowflakes, either, but I’m not going to worry about that until December.)

While I’m over here trying to cut out these blasted dolls, check out a few of my favorite sources for craft and art project ideas!

  • I love the latest project at Montessori by Hand: Making recycled paper! I’m not sure yet whether Poppy’s old enough to do this one, but I’m keeping it on file.
  • The forces behind Kiddley are taking a break from blogging, but their archives are packed with great ideas like these cute little finger puppets.
  • The Crafty Crow is a relatively new site. She’s doing a nice job scouring the Web for projects like microwave puffy paint. Crazy!
  • I would've done "Night Fever"

This seemed to be Pick a Song that Really, Really Means Something to You week. I prefer theme weeks. Like Bee Gees week. I want another Bee Gees week.

Syesha came on just as I got home from getting my haircut, so I didn’t really here her at all.

Speaking of me and my hair, the girl who cuts my hair was apparently a Danny Noriega fan. She gives me Danny hair every time. I don’t love that. But I don’t know how to break up with a hair stylist. Any suggestions?

    Anyway …

Love and basketball. And free music.

Maybe it’s because she’s watched “Love and Basketball” so many times. That might be the only thing that would explain it.

Once again, Amy has taken the top spot in our basketball bracket thingy. She also had the most hideous food story, so she wins two batches of cookies. Congratulations, Amy! I can’t believe you picked KU to win, though. Ugh.

Here’s how our standings looked in the end:
