Crib notes

I put Poppy down for her nap about 20 minutes ago. She spent about five minutes wailing, and then I thought she’d fallen asleep. But then a steady stream of chatter started. I can’t understand most of it, because I can’t hear her very well from downstairs. But some of it comes across loud and clear.

Hi cow. Hi daddy. Hi mommy. A show! Hi show.

Do a piggy dance. Do piggy dance!

I see Ojo.

Piggy piggy piggy piggy. How ’bout piggy?

See “Old MacDonald.” See “Old MacDonald”!

No no no no no. No, piggy. No, cow. No, piggy.

She hasn’t been napping very well this week. I figure I’ll give it another 20 minutes or so before I spring her.

The littlest bruiser

Poppy’s new cousin, Claire, was born last night. Her stats? 22.5 inches long and 9 pounds, 15 ounces. My math skills are less than stellar when I’m fully awake, and it was after 11 last night when we got the call. Thus my sleep-addled mind didn’t fully process until this morning that little Claire weighed 10 pounds.

Claire and her mommy are doing just fine this morning. According to my brother-in-law, Mark, baby Claire is a serene little girl with chubby cheeks and a head full of dark hair.
