A month or so ago, our friend Don told me that the Chicago Sun-Times was having a limerick contest in response to the suggestion that Wrigley Field might be getting a new name. I wrote up a couple of entries and went to the site to submit them. And then I discovered that the contest was limited to residents of something like Iowa, Wisconsin and Illinois. I was going to chuck my limericks, but Don wanted to send them to a friend of his in Illinois to submit them. His friend’s name? Patricia Garcia! Who submitted this limerick! Which I wrote! Convoluted, eh? But I was pretty excited. 🙂

A one-hundred-year drought won’t deter
the true Chicago Cubs connoisseur.
But there’s one thing that may
Send Cub fans to Shea:
That’s a greedy Trib entrepreneur.

Scattered chatter

We had some friends over for dinner tonight. They have a 3-year-old daughter, and there was Worlds O’ Drama when they had to leave. Poppy and her pal had a blast, and as a result we got to have a full conversation with grown-ups! It was nice. But the drama meant that I missed the first 15 minutes of “Idol.” So it goes.
