Love Thursday: There and back again

April 12

  • Poppy saying “Mommy!” when I went in to get her in the morning.
  • Onion rings.
  • The Hodge episode of “CSI.” (“It’s my lucky day!”)
  • Rockford singing, “Ain’t no potty like a West Coast potty, ’cause a West Coast potty don’t flush.” (I don’t remember what that was all about).
  • Poppy’s bathtime poo-athon. She went in the tub (Rockford: “Poppy, noooooooo!!!!”) and in her play tent (Me: “Poppy, noooooooo!!!”). Funny in retrospect. She was very pleased with herself.

April 13

  • Going to an unfamiliar playgroup. And actually navigating my way there without getting lost.
  • Holding an 8-month-old at the playgroup. Was Poppy really that small?
  • Going to the mall with Pi to pick up lunch for Rockford.
  • Cinnabon. Every time we go to the mall, I was a cinnamon bun. I knew that if I ever actually got one, it wouldn’t be as good as I’d been building it up to be. But it was. Uh-oh.
  • Rockford singing, “Splash! He’ll save every one of us!” at bathtime. (Poppy’s. Not his.)
  • Poppy getting frustrated and saying, “No words!” when I asked her to use her words. We’re trying to stop that reaction, but it was still cute.

April 14

  • Making the five-hour drive to my in-laws’ house by myself. Well, Pi was there, but she didn’t do any of the driving.
  • Poppy’s excitement at seeing Rockford’s parents.

  • The guy at the Mega Kid Play Place letting Poppy play for free.

April 17

  • Poppy being so good and sweet on the drive home.
  • Getting milk at the “Cruz Through.” Not having to get out of the car to buy milk? Priceless.
  • A new episode of “Gilmore Girls.”
  • Rockford coming home!!

April 18

  • Poppy saying “You welpome!” rather than “Thank you.” She says it consistently; I’m pleased that she’s making the effort to be polite.
  • Poppy asking for “a kiss” four or five times before I close her door at naptime.
  • Rockford getting a refund for the shoddy brake job we got last week.
  • “Lost.”

  • Poppy saying “A B C D E F G.”
  • Poppy saying, “No No No” to her buddies as she tossed them out of the crib.
  • Pi giggling while I read the Winnie-the-Pooh book to her in a goofy voice and with much smooching.
