Shake ramble and roll

Menu Plan Monday logoMy sister-in-law gave me a bag full of goop 10 days ago. With it, she gave me a sheet of paper that told me what to do with the goop — add stuff, squish it, etc. Today that goop is supposed to become Amish Friendship Bread. The instructions say the Amish are the only ones who know how to make the starter. I’m not sure about that. The bread calls for a box of instant pudding, which seems a little incongruent. There’s a whole lot of sugar in this “bread.” It sounds pretty cakey to me. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. I like cake.

I think I might rent Witness this evening.

Speaking of this evening, we’ll be having tacos for dinner. That might not match up so well with the Amish theme I was rolling with there. Oh well.

Monday: Tacos

Tuesday: Poppy seed chicken casserole

Wednesday: Sloppy Joes

Thursday: out

The barrister

JustinJudging from the fancy hat, I would’ve guess that my brother had just been dubbed His Lordship, the Baron von Bard. But I would be wrong. Young law school graduates apparently just like to be prepared for impromptu Renaissance faires.

Congratulations, Justin! Huzzah!

Coming attractions: Movies I'd like to see

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.”
The first movie I remember going to the theater to see was “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” — a.k.a. The One Where The Guy Pulls the Heart Out of Some Unfortunate Someone. I’m not sure what my parents were expecting from 6-year-old me, but I’m betting they didn’t expect me to throw up in the middle of the movie. Which is what happened. Despite that less-than-pleasant introduction to Mr. Ford, I later developed a bit of a crush on him. Then there was that whole Calista Flockhart thing, after which I had little use for him. But then we went to see “Iron Man” and there was a “Crystal Skull” preview with a Harrison Ford voice over and I swooned. So there you go.

Get Smart.”
Steve Carrell makes me laugh.

Hancock.”
I’m a sucker for a Will Smith summer blockbuster.

The Dark Knight.”
The last Batman movie was really good, and I expect this one will be, too. Also: Christian Bale is scrumtrulescent.

The X-Files.”
You likely won’t be surprised to learn that Rockford was way into “The X-Files” when it was on TV, which means I watched it along with him. I was awfully disappointed in the first movie. I want to believe that this is going to be excellent. I want to believe that Robert Patrick will be nowhere near it, and that it will end Scully and Mulder living happily ever after.
