This entire day. I got home from the gym to find flowers, balloons and a cake that said “We love you Mommy” on the table. Rockford had made me lunch, then he and the kids whisked me off to get a massage. And on top of all the pampering? The weather was gorgeous.

9. Old friends
I had dinner this evening with my friend Carrie, whom I’ve known since sixth grade. (That’s even longer than I’ve known Rockford, for those keeping score.) There are very few people who make me laugh as frequently and uncontrollably as she does. I love her a bunch.
Pete is under the weather
We have a puny and feverish boy in the house today. Those are his only symptoms, and the doctor who fielded our mildly frantic midnight phone call says it’s probably just a viral crud. Even so, could you keep him in your prayers today? He’ll be up in his bed, watching DVDs, sipping juice and absorbing all of the good energy you send his way.
