I am thoroughly caffeinated

Seattle’s Best provided product for review for this post.

Waaaaay back at the beginning of the month, after I told you about the Nice & Icy Creamy Caramel Toffee-Coffee Supreme, my friend Brook told me I should try her method of making iced coffee. Little did she know that Seattle’s Best had also sent me some of their coffee and instructions for making iced-coffee concentrate! And so I did indeed try Brook’s iced coffee!

First I brewed up some concentrate.

Like this:

The Seattle’s Best instructions say to add 1 part coffee to 3 parts water over ice, but I found that to be pretty strong. And also who needs water when you can follow Brook’s instructions, which go like this:

The first thing you need to know is to always used sweetened condensed milk. Always. The second thing you need to know is that mixing caramel sauce with sweetened condensed milk and half and half makes amazing coffee creamer and mixes better into the iced coffee. … The third thing you need to know is that Sonic has amazing ice that they will sell to you by the bagful and which you will never regret purchasing for this purpose.

I did not use Sonic ice (even though I drive past Sonic twice a day, at least) and I used fat-free condensed milk and 2% milk instead of full-fat and half-and-half because I’m watching my girlish figure. And I may have accidentally poured in far too much of the sweetened condensed milk, because my corneas have been vibrating for the last 27 minutes.

I know a fair number of you are veteran coffee drinkers, so you’d probably be more adept at making your iced-coffee concoctions and not leave yourself with a sugar/caffeine buzz strong enough to power a small automobile. So how about you leave a comment on this post, and at noon on Wednesday, July 24th, the ol’ randomizer will choose a name to send a “Hot Iced” gift set to, courtesy of Seattle’s Best. What’s in it? Lots of stuff! Stuff like:

A one-month supply of Seattle’s Best Coffee (4 bags!); a Seattle’s Best Coffee Tumbler; a Seattle’s Best travel mug; a little one-cup Melitta pour-over coffee brewer; and a very cute coffee scoop to measure the perfect amount of coffee.

And so to recap: Too much sugar makes me twitchy, and you could win your own Adri won a Seattle’s Best kit! Yeah! I’ll be running laps around the basement if anybody needs me.

  1. I want to see Nichole caffeinated while wearing the Batman mask. Please.

  2. I have been drinking cruddy powdered coffee for the past ten months, but I’m feeling the itch to start brewing the real stuff again. A coffee tumbler would definitely inspire me to ice it up! (Also, I love your happy spoon.)

  3. I want to hang with Nichole and grab a cup of java with her in person…like at Type A. You’re going, right?

  4. My bro-in-law gets some crazy ass variety of coffee from some independent coffee shop in Asheville called “pitbull on crack” that he brings to the family beach vacation every year. I wanna ice it…gimme!

  5. I love iced coffee!!! I haven’t yet tried to make it at home, but I have this dream to do it.. sometime when I have a free moment that isn’t drowning in the other daily chores 🙂 looks like you’ve had fun trying it!

  6. Because I am friends with Brook and she rocks and I too love her iced coffee. (I am often the supplier of said Sonic ice). Kind of like a drug dealer. …lol

  7. Oh ya, I’m definitely going to try both versions of iced coffee. And I’ll be passing this on to all my coffee drinking friends.
sorry I missed your coffee Buzz I bet it was entertaining….. thanks

  8. OH Oh pick me pick me! This is my favorite way to make iced coffee!! I haven’t tried Seattle’s best beans, I’m looking for a supermarket brand that is good but haven’t wanted to stray from my favorite Peet’s (which is hard to find round these parts).

  9. I never thought to use sweetened condensed milk.. that might be a good idea..

  10. Sounds delicious! I adore all kinds of coffee!

  11. I wish sugar made me bounce off the walls ha ha! Great giveaway 🙂

  12. Oh and I mix mine with sweetened vanilla almond milk, it’s delicious!

  13. Let me start by saying, “I don’t win things.” But I do qualify as a caffiene addict, all be it a “recovering” one. 🙂 I have gone about 4 weeks coffee free and it hasn’t been as bad as I expected. I would offer you a suggestion for an iced coffee beverage, but everyone knows I am partial to the “Peppermint Mocha Latte”, though yours does sound lovely. Best of luck with your recipes, and should the most unlikely of things happen – and I do win – I know some great coffee drinkers that would love the bounty. 🙂

  14. This reminder on FB reminded me I need more coffee in my system NOW. Stayed up too late finishing a book, yes I need coffee because I’m a nerd, there are worse things.
