A perfectly Poppins gift

after5catalog.com

I was searching Gifts.com, hoping they would have an inspired suggestion for a gift for Chloe, whose birthday is on Saturday. And indeed, they did! I just can’t believe I didn’t think of the beer belly myself. It’s so Chloe!

Now we’ll just have to hope that she doesn’t read this post. I’d hate to ruin

A season of books

It’s been more than three months since I last wrote about anything I’ve read lately. That in-depth “Stigma” review must’ve really taken it out of me.

Here’s a quick run-down of what I’ve read since:

Mundane menu Monday!

Saturday: Creamy mushroom chicken
Poppy generally loves this dish, but she didn’t this week. Toddlers are so fickle.

Sunday: Colorado White Chili
This was from the “Don’t Panic” cookbook, and it was more of a soup than a chili. It tasted fine, but I’d been in the mood for chili.

Monday: Nachos
I may switch today and tomorrow; we had

Meeska mooska stupid mice

The Mouse Hole. Ugh.

It may be time to concede that we have not a mouse problem but mice trouble.

I cleared out the floor of our bedroom closet to vacuum yesterday (with my new vacuum cleaner! I can’t get enough of it! I’ve been a vacuuming fool!), and I discovered

We're trespassing hooligans

Poppy and I went for a very long walk today around a lake near our house. When we finally got back to the car, I learned that (a) the trail around the lake is about 2 and a quarter miles long and (b) we weren’t supposed to be there. The lake and the trail are,

Everything's going my way

I had to return the license plate for Rockford’s old car today, and I initially went to the wrong place (the DMV rather than the license plate office). One of the employees saw me standing there with the plate and a restless toddler, and she told me I had the wrong place before I waited

Where was I?

Blogger Mary Demuth is tracking her 10-20-30 meme to see just how far it will spread. I picked it up from Sandy’s blog. If you decide to do it, too, leave a comment on Mary’s blog show she can keep track.

There’s a very good chance that my memories of What I Was Doing Then aren’t

Mommy and Daddy don't care for them, either

Scene: Wheeling through the produce department at the grocery store.

Poppy: Pears! Pumpkins!

Rockford: That’s right! What else do you see?

Poppy points at the pineapples.

P: That looks like a food.

A: Those are pineapples.

P, as we pass the tomatoes: Stinky Petes! Red Stinky Petes!

Later, she correctly identified lamb chops and steak at the meat counter. That’s my girl.
