Where was I?

Blogger Mary Demuth is tracking her 10-20-30 meme to see just how far it will spread. I picked it up from Sandy’s blog. If you decide to do it, too, leave a comment on Mary’s blog show she can keep track.

There’s a very good chance that my memories of What I Was Doing Then aren’t accurate. I can barely remember what I did yesterday, much less 10 years ago. So consider this What I Was Doing Around 10-20-30 Years Ago.

I was 19, working at a movie theater and going to school part-time. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life, other than marry Rockford and live happily ever after.

I was 9. And in the fourth grade? Maybe? Definitely living in North Carolina, and definitely self-conscious about most everything. This would have been around the time that a classmate told me I wrote my lowercase Ks wrong. I never recovered.

I would be born in a year. At this time, though, I’m not sure that I was even a glimmer in my parents’ eyes.

Mommy and Daddy don’t care for them, either

Scene: Wheeling through the produce department at the grocery store.

Poppy: Pears! Pumpkins!

Rockford: That’s right! What else do you see?

Poppy points at the pineapples.

P: That looks like a food.

A: Those are pineapples.

P, as we pass the tomatoes: Stinky Petes! Red Stinky Petes!

Later, she correctly identified lamb chops and steak at the meat counter. That’s my girl.

An uninspired menu plan

Monday: Spaghetti.
Spaghetti night is usually reserved around here for when I’m feeling particularly uninspired in the kitchen. This week, though, its appearance is also prompted by the fact that I have three jars of spaghetti sauce in the pantry, and we were trying to cut the grocery bill down a bit.

Tuesday: Chicken pot pie.
I have a pot pie filling in the freezer, but it’s reserved for use after Pete arrives. Pot pie is a little time-consuming, but it’s worth it. I could eat it every day.

Wednesday: Chicken pot pie, Part II.
… Or two days in a row, at the very least.

Thursday: Tacos.

Friday: Pizza.
